Stardate
20030325.2251 (Ship's log): Based on the instructions on a web site sent in by one reader, in response to my plea for help a couple of days ago, I have now created a special small graphic file which looks like this:
It's only about a kilobyte. If things are working the way I think they should, then it means that if someone accesses one of the picture files hosted on my server via a link from some other site somewhere else, then they'll get that graphic instead of the picture they wanted to reach.
However, because of how it's being done, it also means that if any of my normal readers use an odd spelling of the site name to come here, there's a risk that they'll see the same image directly. Just to make clear, this site is http://denbeste.nu. It's also possible, I gather, for some older and highly buggy browsers (Navigator 4) to botch up the referer, and thus get shunted to this graphic anyway.
Navigator 4 is a piece of crap, and anyone still using it should upgrade. I refuse to make any attempt to accomodate it on this site. (For instance, it's the only browser which doesn't handle my site formatting correctly.)
Update: It occurs to me that this graphic may be responsible for some confusion, so I will update it to include my true URL at the bottom, just so there's no confusion about where it's coming from.
Update: OK, I've added my URL so that there's no ambiguity about who's server is producing this graphic.
