Stardate 20011008.0703 (On Screen): The Taliban, and especially their ambassador in Pakistan, have been
lying for weeks. We
know that because they've been contradicting themselves. First they said that bin Laden had left the country; then they said they had him under what amounted to house arrest. They claimed he had no ability to contact anyone outside of Afghanistan, but he's been doing a fine job of issuing press releases and even a video tape. They claimed to have 300,000 troops, then they said they had 40,000. They can't even tell a consistent story. So when their ambassador claims that there were widespread civilian casualties in the attack yesterday, I consider the source.
