(On Screen): Our special "allies" in Europe have spent the last year demanding that we withdraw all our troops from Iraq. Last summer, for example, they demanded that we complete our withdrawal by the end of last December.

And in the latest (why-are-we-) wrangling in the UN to get another Security Council resolution approved, our most special "allies" are demanding a hard date for withdrawal.

In other news, we learn that the Pentagon is making plans to withdraw the 1st Infantry Division and the 1st Armored Division from Germany, replacing them with the Stryker Brigade. And "experts and allied officials" warn us that we're being premature, and that withdrawing our divisions from Germany could be a serious mistake.

After all, we have only been occupying Germany militarily for sixty years, right?
