And for all his bravado and bluster, he didn't go down fighting like his sons did. He didn't even shoot himself, though he had plenty of time to do so. The miserable coward was found burrowing in a rat hole in the basement of the house in which he was captured. American soldiers had to dig him out with shovels.

He'll almost certainly end up on trial in an Iraqi tribunal which was created just a few days ago.

Amnesty International condemned the formation of that tribunal. "We are particularly concerned that the Iraqi Penal Code provides for the death penalty for crimes under the jurisdiction of the tribunal."
