20030618.1700 (On Screen): To justify their crackdown on an Iranian group in France, the French have claimed that they were planning attacks on Iranian embassies in Europe. That made them a terrorism risk, and we're all trying to stop terrorism, right?
On the other hand, when it comes to Hamas France emphatically opposes any attempt to blacklist them in Europe.
What's the difference? Easy: Hamas makes all its terrorist attacks against Israel. And it's OK to kill Jews. They don't matter.
Monsieur de Villepin says that Hamas are "Palestinian interlocutors". (Monsieur de Villepin thinks this is a good thing, which is why it's important that Hamas not be blacklisted.)
Update: Winds of Change on this.
Update: Let me make my position clear: I do not object to France cracking down on the Iranian group. I object to their unwillingness to crack down on Hamas.
