USS Clueless - Bagging the Bastard of Baghdad

Stardate 20030621.2029

(On Screen): Carol writes to point to an article in the Observer which says that the US made an air attack on a convoy of vehicles in the western desert of Iraq near the Syrian border on Wednesday, which may have included Saddam and/or his sons. The report, which hasn't been officially confirmed, says that American experts are taking samples on the scene to perform DNA analysis.

If it's true, and if we actually did get Saddam this time, it will be a major help in the overall situation inside of Iraq. There was a rumor that Saddam was offering a bounty for every American killed, and equally a rumor that he was trying to organize a resistance to try to bleed us in a war of attrition, and to take over again once we gave up and left. If Saddam is actually dead and we can prove it, that will seriously hurt the resistance.

Update 20030624: Alas, it was not to be.
