(On Screen): If any further proof that Arafat has become irrelevant was needed, this is it. He has now reached the point where he lies about everything. His latest story is that the Karine A was actually an Israeli frame up. That's about as convincing as a little kid's claim that a bear came in the door and broke the cookie jar.

I can't figure out just who he thinks he's peddling that to. Certainly not to the Palestinians themselves; they'd rather believe that the shipment really was his. He's not going to convince the Israelis of anything this way. And does he really think that he's going to sell this idea to American policy makers? After all, it was American intelligence which spotted the Karine A and tipped off the Israelis.
