Stardate 20011220.0656 (On Screen): If there is controversy about the proposed International Criminal Court, at least those who proposed it tried to establish its legitimacy through treaty and negotiations. Such cannot be said about the nation of Belgium, who decided a couple of years ago that its laws and its courts had world-wide jurisdiction. Anyone anywhere who has a gripe with anyone can file suit against them in Belgium, as has just happened against Arafat. Long time readers will know that I'm no fan of Arafat, but this is not the way to deal with him. In the mean time, Belgium needs to reverse this policy.
