Stardate 20011129.1307 (On Screen): After the tragedy of the prisoners at Mazar-e Sharif, some human rights groups are
demanding an investigation. I'm becoming more than a bit cynical about their motivation, quite frankly, and I suspect that they're hoping (rather than fearing) that they'll find evidence of a war crime. But it's a bit difficult to believe that excessive force was used when the last few survivors are
still resisting -- which we know, because they shot two workers clearly wearing the Red Cross who were trying to clear dead bodies from the area. As long as they're fighting, they're not prisoners. If they're fighting, they're enemy soldiers and even under the most restrictive rules of war you're entitled to try to kill them.
