Stardate 20011129.0425 (On Screen): Again the situation in Afghanistan has changed far more rapidly than I expected, and surely more rapidly than the nay-sayers would have believed. The Afghan leaders in Bonn have a general agreement on the form of an interim government which will run the nation until March, when a larger meeting will be held in Afghanistan itself to lay out something more permanent. For political reasons we may never find out just how much foreigners (like the US State Department) were involved in this solution, but I have a suspicion that the answer is "a lot".
