Stardate 20010911.0834 (Crew, this is the Captain): I feel ill. But I'm going to be going out on a limb today and start trying to make predictions based on my understanding of the politics and technical aspects of war. It will be interesting to see how accurate I can be. I just saw an announcement that the Taliban has called a press conference. I predict that they have arrested Osama bin Laden and will be turning him over to US authorities post haste. Everyone, and I mean
everyone in the world who isn't actually involved in this is going to be scrambling to cooperate, because anyone who doesn't do so is going to be suspected of being involved, and no-one is going to want to be at the receiving end of what the US is going to dish out in retaliation for this attack. The US is at DefCon 5 now, and that's no joke.
(discuss)Update: Part of this is going to be that I'm going to leave my predictions up even if they're wrong. So I'll admit that earlier I made a comment about how the towers hadn't collapsed, just before they did so. I took that comment down, so I'm putting it back here.
Update: OK, another prediction: I expect there to be upwards of 10,000 dead in this attack.
