Stardate 20010608.1114 (On Screen): Engineers are the invisible professionals. We take the output of engineers for granted; we're used to a constant stream of new products at the stores, and so on. We only really notice them when they screw up big time, like, say, releasing buggy software onto the trading computers of the New York Stock Exchange. Then everyone curses at the stupid software engineer — without realizing just how amazing it is that this happens so rarely.
